To leave a world in Kingdom Hearts 3, players simply need to go to a save point and return to the Gummi Ship. This is possible from basically every save point in the game. However, players don’t ever really need to use this feature in the main story until they’ve completed the Big Hero 6-themed San Fransokyo stage, as that is the only world that doesn’t immediately kick Sora and the gang back to the Gummi Ship after the story there has been concluded....

Speaking at the D23 Expo, Kingdom Hearts 3 director Tetsuya Nomura hints that, while introducing multiple playable characters into the series is difficult, the development team intend to incorporate a second playable character alongside Sora.
