Earlier this year, Nintendo fans received Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the 13th mainline game in the Kirby franchise, which is still a popular game that players are enjoying and is considered by many to be one of the best games in the franchise. Now, in the same year, fans will receive Kirby’s Dream Buffet, which, though it isn’t the same action adventure platformer as Kirby and the Forgotten Land or the popular Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, still promises some multiplayer platforming fun for all.

The release trailer for the game makes Kirby’s Dream Buffet look like it takes the multiplayer racing of Fall Guys and mixes it with the party games style of Mario Party and throws it all together in this world of the Dream Buffet. The premise of the game, as shown in the trailer, is that Kirby is about to dig into a delicious looking cake, but is then somehow zapped by some sort of shrink ray and miniaturized. The game then becomes a multiplayer race and battle royale in the world of desserts.

The history of Kirby games is long and diverse as there have been many games of different genres throughout the years. Long-time fans of the franchise know that Kirby games have the potential to take on various different forms, and Kirby’s Dream Buffet is no different as it brings in elements of several types of games. Many will remember that Kirby Air Ride is also part of the racing plus battle royale style of gameplay that released on the Nintendo GameCube in 2003.

Nintendo fans will be excited to see the party games style of Mario Party returning for Kirby’s Dream Land as the trailer shows off many mini-games including both races and battles. These games, paired with the multiplayer racing in colorful worlds, reminiscent of Fall Guys, makes Kirby’s Dream Land an interesting new game for Nintendo fans, though it remains to be seen if it will live up to expectations.

This year in gaming has been busy with new game releases, remakes, ports, adaptations, and many other exciting developments for gamers across all platforms. The excitement continues for Nintendo Switch players as Kirby’s Dream Buffet comes to the hybrid console sometime this summer.

Kirby’s Dream Buffet releases on Nintendo Switch in Summer 2022.
