How to Beat Leongar, the King of the Beasts

Before the fight begins, fans should make sure they’re prepared. Players enter Lab Discovera for the first time without any warning due to how the story plays out. Thankfully, the game takes this into account and provides fans with a Maximum Tomato and a few Copy Abilities for players to take if they decide they want to choose another ability.

For those who want an easier time against Leogar, however, the Tornado, Hammer, and Ranger Copy Abilities work best . Using the upgraded versions of these abilities will also make the fight much more manageable.

Leongar’s first attack of choice is always a slash of his claws, which may remind players of Gorimondo’s slow swipe attacks during Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s first boss battle.

These can be easily jumped over, but sometimes the lion will follow up the attack by slamming his paws into the ground afterward. Players should be mindful of this attack as it produces a shockwave. Leongar will also attack with a pouncing attack aimed directly at Kirby. Players will need to dodge or jump out of range once he charges.

One of the lion’s most dangerous attacks is one where he’ll drag his claws against the floor and chase Kirby. At the end of the attack, he’ll pull his claws out of the ground in a swipe that protects him and tears the ground and sets it on fire for a few seconds. Fans will either need to dodge this attack or use the copy ability they have for quick protection, such as Tornado’s invulnerability when active.

Once Leongar’s health is halfway gone, something will possess him, which marks the start of a more devastating second phase. Almost all of his attacks will be changed for stronger moves that are much harder to dodge, which means players will need to be extremely careful.

The most difficult of these attacks is his bite attack, which is incredibly fast and tracks Kirby the entire time. Using Kirby’s Perfect Dodge abilities is the best way to avoid this attack with bulkier abilities equipped; being faster than Leongar is key to avoiding getting hit.

With another one of his attacks, Leongar’s claws will glow. When this happens, he will fire three X-shaped beams across the arena to get at Kirby.

These can’t be easily dodged by moving side-to-side, so players’ best option when Leogar’s claws glow is to stay still so the first beam can be dodged with a simple jump. The next one will be aimed at Kirby in the air, so fans should quickly land and jump again for the third strike.

The most difficult attack that the King of Beasts uses against Kirby is a beam attack fired directly from its mouth. This attack also tracks Kirby no matter how much fans try to move out of the way, and dodging is crucial as fans will be sent flying across the room without their Copy Ability if hit.

However, if fans manage to dodge quickly enough to leave space between them and the beam, Leongar is defenseless as the beam continues. This is the best window of attack fans have during the final stage of this boss fight.

Leongar will also grow tired after numerous attacks have been launched, which presents a good chance for players to strike back. Once Leongar is defeated, players aren’t through yet as Lab Discovera has much more in store. Luckily, the chase section with Fecto Forgo is rather simplistic, which gives players time to relax before the true final boss, Fecto Elfilis.
