This demo of Kirby and the Forgotten Land was shadowdropped on the Nintendo eShop, where it gave fans the chance to try out not only how Kirby plays in this new 3D environment, but also some of the levels and abilities that will be in the full game. These include the new way that Kirby’s copy abilities work, as well as the brand-new Mouthful Mode. However, some players have discovered a very cute Easter Egg while playing the demo.

This Easter Egg can be found upon taking control of Kirby, whereupon pressing the Up-button on the D-Pad of the Switch controller, Kirby will wave in the direction he is facing while saying “Hi!” This can be repeated many times with a few different voice clips that can be cycled through. This cute Easter Egg is likely a reference to Super Smash Bros. where pressing a button will make him do a similar taunt, waving his arms while saying “Hi” to the audience.
A similar, but slightly less lively, Easter Egg can be found when pressing the down button on the D-Pad, where Kirby will sit down, cutely kicking his legs before standing up. Lastly, pressing the D-pad to either side will make Kirby do a pose with another voice clip. These Easter Eggs are fun references to Kirby’s history as a Smash Bros. fighter, as HAL Labs and the director of the series, Masahiro Sakurai, helped make him become a household name.
This demo of Kirby and the Forgotten Land contains three levels, with two of them being linear but open levels that help demonstrate Kirby’s copy abilities and Mouthful Mode, along with a boss fight against one of the bosses in the Beast Pack. Completing this demo will grant players special codes that can be used in the full game, which can be redeemed at the Waddle Dee-livery service.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land launches March 25 for the Nintendo Switch.
