Shared on the official Nintendo of America Twitter, the developer has shown a short clip of Kirby fishing, complete with a little fold-out chair and bucket hat. As a result, fans have already started to share their own interpretations and memes of this clip, all of which join the ever-growing list of Kirby and the Forgotten Land memes.

In the short clip, Kirby sits at what appears to be a peaceful little pond before casting a fishing line into the water and waiting briefly to get a bite. After a few seconds of pulling on the fishing pole, his catch launches into the air before dropping into his hands and revealing that he’s been rewarded with a Blipper for his trouble. The whole thing passes in about eight seconds, but this has been more than enough times for fans waiting eagerly for Kirby and the Forgotten Land to latch onto the image and start spreading their own memes.
Within a few hours of Nintendo of America sharing the short clip of Kirby fishing, fans had already quickly flooded the replies with their own recreations of the image. This also has some fans speculating whether the clip is specifically showing gameplay as most are hoping, or if this is just going to be a short scene from within the game’s narrative. Considering that Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s gameplay already shows potential from course objectives and mouthful mode, a simple fishing mechanic would be a welcome inclusion.
It’s almost uncanny how many games decide to dive into the treasure trove that is the fishing mini-game when attempting to fill a game with any kind of open gameplay. So, with Kirby finally striking out into 3D spaces, this feels like an great addition to the series as either a one-off mini-game or a consistent one across multiple locations. Regardless, the memes centered around Kirby and the Forgotten Land alone might be well worth including fishing for even the few seconds that Nintendo of America has already shown.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is set to release March 25th for Switch.
